AHH! ZZZOMBIES!

Welcome to my blog (which, for the time being, will be called the “Skeptic’s Guide to the Galaxy” – for lack of a better title).

I hope to post relevant information on intriguing philosophical ideas concerning everything from consistency to rationality to choice to intelligence to consciousness to ethics to computing to artificial intelligence to quantum physics to religious belief – and most likely much more.

From time to time I will also mention some good books to pick up, articles to read – or even films worth taking a look at.

Zombology – refers to the study of “literal” zombies (the undead, diseased, biologically challenged former-human-types who crave “B-b-bbbrrrainnsss!!!”)

Dr. Standish formalized this study in 1912 with his work, Mechanisms and Characteristics of the Undead.

I, however, am more interested in the philosopher’s zombie than to the serious idea of actual flesh-eating zombies. Philosophical zombies are generally used in thought-experiments (as an argument against physicalism); they are recognized as being physically indistinguishable from a normal human being – but they lack conscious experience.

Although I hope to use this blog for philosophical topics, I am sure that from time to time less noble topics will creep in.

Enjoy, and feel free to comment whenever you feel the need.

PS. I will try to keep the posts cleanly categorized (broadly) for convenience.
